Cultivated Web Design & Development Work With Me

National Piers Society

The National Pier’s Society (NPS) website is a great resource of piers information and news and offers a wealth of content for media, members and non-members alike.

Their original website had become outdated and difficult to maintain – it was built using table-based-layouts, wasn’t mobile friendly and lacked a Content Management System to help organise and manage the site.

The new site is content-managed using WordPress, allowing pier listings, news and events to be added quickly and easily. WooCommerce was integrated for the NPS Shop. The website is mobile-friendly using the latest responsive design techniques.

Mather & Co

Requirements: an Interior Design company who had an existing Flash website that had become neglected and inaccessible.

Solution: I assessed the information architecture of the site and restructured the site content. I developed a sitemap, wireframes and Photoshop prototypes of the new site design. Once the client was happy with the designs I used WordPress to develop a CMS to update their showcase of projects, news stories, press releases and vacancies. A further requirement for the Mather & Co site was that it be responsive so it is accessible across a wide range of screen sizes and devices.

Solution: Working with the talented team at Via Studios, I created a bespoke responsive WordPress-driven Website that allows for easy content management through a tailored admin panel.

Workstation UK

Requirements: a corporate furniture supplier and interior design company with a “messy” Flash based website that was out of date and inaccessible.

Solution: the site content was restructured and information architecture decisions were made during the design process. I developed prototypes of the site in the browser until the site design was agreed upon. The site was built to be responsive across multiple devices and screen sizes. WordPress was used as a CMS with HTML5 theme development. I also reassessed their current hosting solution and provided a cheaper, more suitable alternative.

So what can I do?

Planning & Design

From rough sketches to the final pixels, I can help organise and structure your website content. Using Sitemaps, Wireframes and Prototypes along the way, I'll make sure that you're happy with the direction the site design is taking and more importantly how it will be used.

By the end of 2013, more people will be browsing the web on mobile devices than desktop computers. With that in mind I make sure your site is accessible across a vast range of devices by offering responsive site design.

Front-End Development

I specialise in writing clean, semantic HTML5 for site structure, CSS3 for presentation and (a sprinkling of) jQuery to create behaviours and effects that work across multiple platforms and browsers.

I strive to optimise website perfomance to ensure a quick load time.

WordPress Integration

If you're in need of a CMS you can't go far wrong with WordPress. It's easy to use, scalable and open source so it keeps down development costs, while offering a platform that a large community of developers have contributed to.

I offer completely bespoke (responsive) themes or I can customise an existing theme for you.
